San Jose, CA, Oct 29th, 2012 – Cavium Inc., (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the digital home, today announced that LG’s new DWD Series Wireless Display adapter uses Cavium’s CNW6611L media SoC to enable state-of-the-art media sharing and wireless display capabilities. This Cavium-based accessory is optimized to enhance the end-to-end Miracast functionality with LG’s Optimus G phone, as well as the new Android 4.2 release used in the Nexus 4 smartphone. With support for 1080p media processing, HDCP 2.1 content protection, and optimized interactivity, LG’s new Miracast display adapter is designed to enable users to view premium content or play their favorite games on the larger screen of a nearby high definition TV.
“We see the ability to seamlessly share media content, stored locally on the phone or otherwise streamed from the cloud, as an important capability for our new line of smartphones,” said Michael Park, Business Leader at LG’s Mobile Accessory Business Team. “Cavium’s expertise and innovative solutions for wireless media streaming enabled a rapid development cycle for the Wireless Display adapter, enabling us to be one of the first to bring our Miracast display adapter to the market since the recent launch of the standard.”
Based on Cavium’s industry leading CNW6611L PureVu wireless display SoC, LG’s new adapter has all the ingredients for creating a superior consumer experience. The high performance media engine provides the flexibility to decode and display a wide range of high quality HD content. The use of HDCP 2.1 to offer premium content support is another key feature in LG’s new adapter, thanks to the high performance decryption off-load engine on the CNW6611L and Cavium’s expertise in security processing and content protection. Leveraging Cavium’s industry leading technology in low latency video processing, the Wireless Display adapter offers optimized end-to-end latency for seamless interactivity. The USB-powered design and the ultra small form-factor round out the key features of LG’s new Miracast display adapter, making it an attractive accessory for LG’s handset users.
“We are delighted to be a part of LG’s global launch of their new Miracast display adapter,” said Raj Singh, GM of Cavium’s Digital Home & Office Division. “LG’s decision to partner with Cavium on its new Miracast display adapter is a reflection of the common vision the companies share, and further establishes Cavium’s position as a leading provider of wireless display solutions.”
