Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home networking & entertainment today announced support for the new ECONA CNS3XXX Energy Efficient ARM®-Based processor family from Cavium Networks (Nasdaq: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications, storage, wireless, video and security applications.
Building upon the relationship established earlier this year, the two companies are committed to enable the development and fast delivery of best-in-class home networking solutions ideally suited for the fiber-to-the-home and IPTV service deployments, based on Entropic’s third-generation MoCA 1.1 compliant EN2510 single-chip network controller solution and Cavium’s ECONA single-dual-core ARM-based processor family.

The EN2510 offers best-in-class value for connected products requiring the features, robustness and throughput performance of a MoCA home network. The EN2510 offers convenience and cost savings by combining the coaxial network controller and RF transceiver into a single 15x15mm chip. Manufactured in an advanced 65nm process, the EN2510 substantially lowers power consumption over previous generations and supports advanced Input/Output interfaces such as PCI Express along with MII/TMII/GMII and RGMII.
